I was talking to one of the board members today who told me that Wellcraft is getting out of the performance boat business. Too Bad. I always like the Scarabs....

Wellcraft is doing more than just getting rid of the Scarab line. They are no longer going to build cruisers or family runabouts. They are only going to build fish boats(yuck). During the eight years I was at Wellcraft we had about 6 presidents and every new president had a brilliant idea. Well this one tops the cake.

a scarab was always a boat that made me forget about where i was going and start to follow it.

I always wondered why anyone would have a boat named after a sh*teating beetle??????

Good bye,
Good luck,
And good ...

Every Scarab I've ever seen is so-so. Not great quality like a Donzi, Cigarette or Magnum.

Just a so-so offshore boat

No great loss in my book....

Ted, all they are going to make is the fishing line? eek, Go back to Donzi you can fly around with the ZR and I know you would love that!, Well with only a few years left on there contract for the name SCARAB I don't see Larry Smith killing the name. I see the Scarab name being sold to another Boat builder, Thats like letting the Cigarette name go. Scarab was a leader in the Offshore world thanks to names like Larry Smith, Bette Cook, and many others.

I think this will be not be the only one, with the economy, more mfg's might leave the performance arena and head the way of the entry level cc which is sad.
and when there are no other performance boats left we'll be beating each other's Donzi's

HP I'm sure you'll find something soon, keep a positive outlook
