So, yesterday, I go up to my guy who builds all my engines over the years, and what do I see; but, a 1980 Donzi 18 with ORANGE gelcoat with a UAF BLUE strip down the middle, with Gator blue interior. It's the shop for a new engine. Why?............ because it's been in a warehouse on Gainesville, Florida for 18 years. the gelcoat is puuuuurrrrrrfect! Gary didn't know much else about it. Oh, it has a really nice GATOR MASKOT logo, about 1' x 1'painted on the side. I'll take a picture and post it, if anyone is interested in seeing it. I didn't know that Donzi would do such a thing as a special order. It's a cute boat, though. What a find!

I think I saw this boat Thanksgiving weekend 1985 at Hontoon Landing in Deland, on the St. John's river. It was tied up next to a rental houseboat outfit we had rented from for the weekend. I believe it had Sunoco blue seats, and dark blue deck stripe. I don't remember seeing the UF logo on the side at the time though... one of the other guests (a young Doctor at the time from Altamonte Springs who bought it new) had a yellow/sunoco blue 1975ish 18, tied up to the same dock. Quite a contrast. I had never seen then, or even, now those color combinations again. Always wondered where they both ended up..

What should you do if you find three Gators buried up to their necks in cement?
Get more cement.

Get more cement. I'd rather see my sister in a whorehouse than my brother at FSU! :p

We might just have to take this over to the Whatever section for some serious discussion . . .
:D :D :D
Oh, and yes Donzigo, one of my older Donzi catalogs advertises that they would build you a Donzi in your school colors if you so desire . . . and I now see that they did. Even I would forgo on a Garnet and Gold Donzi, but then again, maybe the Poodle's X-18 is actually Carolina Blue!! wink :D

Humm... Just trying to picture a Donzi X-18 done in solid green with orange stipes. I think of course even though I like blue, a red Classic with gray stripes would look one heck of a lot better :D For that matter, a blue with yellow stipes even for U of M. Where are our photo-shop masters? Some examples please?
Donzigo, I look forward to seeing your pictures.
