Looking at a totally neglected 87 hornnet (21'bowrider)w/fresh 454(<150 hrs) and gil exhaust manifolds. Needs restoration, exterior and complete interior replacement. All the pieces are there but in dire need of some tlc. Is it worth 5000? Sales pitch was that it is only 1 of 1000 built this way????

Thanks for the info. New to the site and not up to speed with all it has to offer. Does anyone have info on this model?

Couldn't find this particular boat. The Hornet in question is a bowrider with a small swim platform. Also the cleats are recessed on both sides. Can get a s/n if it would help. Current owner says she used to run 65-70 back "in the day" Looks like this but faded red gelcoat www.e-c-q.com/ecqmerchants/forsale/boats/010010.php (http://www.e-c-q.com/ecqmerchants/forsale/boats/010010.php)

Does it look like this... (Regazza Bowrider)
http://www.donzi.net/photos/osaffell584.jpg

or like this... (Hornet III 21')
http://www.donzi.net/photos/osaffell519.jpg

is what I think Matty is trying to say...

Bunches,

Similar to the top boat but with curved glass. See site listed above. Been seaching for a while to determine value and have found a few of the "bowrider" Donzi's. :)

that's a Z-21 i do believe in your link... NOT A HORNET III...

the owner is very mislead or is trying to feed you a heckuva line...

and an alpha behind the BBC... not a great combo for longevity... especially behind heavier hulls...

looks like a z21 to me

Looks to me like it might be some kind of cousin to a Z-21... The year model and overall shape are right.

Looks like a Z21, not a Hornet... oops, jinx.

Didn't realize that they had a bowrider in that model, though.

Nada shows Donzi offering a Z-21 bowrider in 1987.

DOODAD,
perhaps you have come across a custom boat a Z21 set up has a bowrider??? does the seller have paper work??? Donzi did always do custom stuff for a paying customer! or did they just cut the roof off of the Z21???

I Dunno

Can I get a rebuilder for 5k? eek! Didnt think so :D . Looks like this z-21 Hornet may have potential. I am concerned with the alpha drive however. The replacement 454 was dyno'ed at 420hp and I dont know if the outdrive has been upgraded for the increased hp. I've read arguments on various forums that this may/may not be a problem.(driver dependant)

Matty... He did say it was custom built 1 of 100 and it was built as a bowrider. It may be possible. Anyway, What do you folks think? Worth the 5k? By the way, what is the performance potential of a f-21 w/454?
