Went to boat show in Annapolis,MD on Saturday. Donzi had no ZX's @ show. anyway I put a deposit on a '04 292...I can back out easy. It has twin 350's for 100K. they will only give me 20K for my '99 22zx. should I be looking at something else for these $$$. I'm still a rookie in the boating world....please give me ideas before I do something stupid. I NEED to go 70mph+++!

PS... I love the 22 Classic, but the water is a little too rough around here.

The 28ZX all the way, Twin 350 Mags runs 72-74 mph and is a much prettier boat. The Windshield on the 29 makes it look like a Family boat. I like the windscreen on the 28ZX. Runs almost the same in rough water. The 28 is slightly faster.

Those were my two favorites at the Miami show.

I'd go with the ZX. I think it looks much more like a high-performance boat than the Formula and it's a bit faster. I also think they are screwing you by only offering you $20k for your 22ZX. I sold my '99 22ZX a couple months ago for $35k! Just my .02 cents.

Rich, You also had a 502 BigBlock, I have been selling brand new 22ZXs 350s for 36,500 Brand new with trim tabs full graphics Silent Choice and the 2004 are even lower with a stripped model 22 ZX. The Big Blocks are more desired. I have a 2001 Daytona ZX Reflections Loaded 50hrs Kiekeifer Race planes External Lathiem Steering Loaded to the hills for 34,000. 20,000 is about what the trade in price goes. I have seen them as high as 24,000 Trade in but what is he paying on the top end. Is the 29 a 2003 or 2004 I am pretty sure he is buying from Tenton Marine he has a couple of 2002s and 2003s from last year that he can't get rid of.

the dealer is Full Tilt and the boat is an '04...they have an '03 that they will sell for 6K less. they have a deal where the 1st 30 payments go 100% no interest then payments have 5.25% interest rate. (saves around 5K in the 1st 2.5 years)....still haven't made up my mind.

Hey Frank,

By the way, are they still offering the Z-Care 5 year warranty on new 2004 ZX's?

No Z-Care for the 2004 boats. If you decide Donzi you may be better off looking for a 2003 with Z-Care.

Also you should be able to find an 03' or 04' 28ZX for a similar price, $100K or less.

IMO, that price is way too high. Six months ago, I could have bought a brand new 2002 28ZXO w/twin 350 mags for 78.5K. This was at Grand Lake, OK. I bought my new 28ZXO about 1 year earlier. I almost cried. The only saving grace was the boat had graphics and I like the two tone look...much cleaner to me. The dealer was going out-of-business and wanted to get rid of the last of his inventory. I kid you not.

You might want to check out Jackson Marine in Northeast, MD they have two 28ZX one is a 2003 with Z care the other is a 2004 both have twin 350 mags and nice graphics. I think the 2003 was bought from a dealer who went out of business not sure though. I had a 2000 28ZX with twin 350 mags loved the boat ran 72 mph and loved rough water only reason I sold was to move up to a 2002 33ZX. Good luck in your decision.

PS Offshore Performance the new donzi dealer in Grasonville, MD had a 38ZR and 38ZX st the Annapolis show.

Offshore Performance is not a new Donzi dealer, in fact once those two boats go I believe they are no longer will be a Donzi dealer.
Call Harry and ask for specifics. Could just be rumor, he certainly is not the owner, just the guy I tried to work with for a test ride (mission impossible!)....
I can add more about that dealership if ask in regards to my dealings with them. They also dealer Cig and Sonic.

I guess I was mistaken, when I went over to look at the 38ZX a guy by the name of Brett Dean was on me like flies on sh-- and he gave me his card and said to email him if I need any info on Donzi boats. I then went to Jackson Marine booth (they were showing Regal boats)and spoke to Bob Mitchell who sold me my two Donzi's and he said they were a new dealer in the area thats why Jackson did not have any Donzi's there themselves because the Annapolis show is in Offshore Performances area and Offshore Performance ordered a lot of boats thus they were abke to show Donzi's. The whole thing was wierd because Jackson for the last four years I went to the Annapolis show always had Donzi's there. I guess I am just a little partial to Jackson because they have treated me very well the last four years I have own a Donzi.

They are a new dealer, infact Donzi would not let Jackson attend the show w/ Donzi's they were there w/ Regal only.

When I said not new I guess I should have said not recently new, they have had Donzi for at least a year now, delivered a 38ZX to our club this past summer.

Sorry for any confusion.

Go with the ZX. I think the Jackson Marine is doing demo rides this weekend. That should help make your mind up. :D

couldn't take a spin @ jackson over the weekend, I was in LV. took a spin last Thursday on the 292, w/ 2 of us and a 3/4 tank of gas the boat was right around 70mph...forgot my gps. still haven't had a ride on the 28ZX, but was able to check one out @ Jackson last Wed. my opinion is the interior on the 292 is nicer and the cabin is much nicer w/ more headroom and nicer material. still think I'm going to go w/ the Donzi....faster and a little less$$$. thanks for all the input.

Formula's 18 month 0% interest and then 4.9% would be enough to sway me on a new boat, if they only had fairings.....
The 28ZX is a great boat too, weigh all the pros/cons on paper.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
