Figured all here would find the following article from 1991 interesting.

The actual article compares a dog clutch to a cone clutch. Interesting story about stern drive progress of Volvo, Mercruiser and OMC up to that point, now nearly 13 years ago.

Interestingly enough, it mentions Yamaha drives as well. Yamaha drives? I read another article after they "went away" that said they were actually very good, just too much competition.

Also neat, on the same page (appropriately) is a small tribute to Jim Wynne around the time he died.

Pretty nice reading...

I hope my scan isn't too blurry. It didn't look great, but I think it's legible (at least).

Have meant to post this for a long time with all the discussions about various drives.

As I recall there's even been a discussion of the clutch types used in various drives before. If it was before last week, I can't remember!

Put the additional stern drive article on "Whatever You Want to Talk About." Not sure why I put it there, but it's there.

Go there or click link to see it:

Some good stuff. Again sorry my scan quality ain't that great.
