How does your boat handle with the single surface drive? I have something I'm kicking around.

Cuda, if your kicking it around.....I have an Arneson I am going to sell.....I was going to use it but no time for the project
Great!! When I first installed the drive I couldn't get enough bow lift, once I added an optional fin on the bottom of the drive she handles great. I think better then most Classic's 18's or 22's. But I may be a little bias. :) Have you seen one of the video's? Call me if you have any questions. cell day time (203)258-5222
It's a Kaama that I'm thinking about. Do you have a picture of the fin?
Cuda,

Thanks Geoo. My Kaamas have a wing above the props, do you think it works as well there? I have seen other Kaamas where the owner has removed the wing.
You can see them pretty well in the 14th post on this thread.

How about low speed handling with the single?
The top fin helps get on plan quicker, (cavitation plate).
The bottom fin is mounted at a slight downward angle at netural trim. The more you trim up the more the fin angles down and grabs the water, forceing the drive to dig in and lift the bow.
She steers the same or better then an outdrive in foward. Have never tried reverse!! I never installed a trannie, paddle works fine. The deeper the prop is in the water, the better prop will grab in reverse.

Cuda, I found this searching Kaama and found it interesting. I am sure many have read it but I had not.
I never knew about "Betty Cook" before.

Seems as well, that Howards surface drive (concept) dates way back.
