I heard of a Poker Run here in Florida sometime this weekend, but missed the details. Anyone have the specifics?

My girlfriend heard "Bubba The Love Sponge" (DJ in St. Pete) talking about Mandy (With all due respect - The oh, so rightous young lady from Donzi) and how was going to try "pick her up" at this weekend's pokerrun. That's all I heard.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED I say...to learn that Poker Runs America is actually sponsoring a poker run IN America.
Last I heard, all their runs were in Canada.
Hope all you west coast guys can make it.
ME?
I'm still looking for parts.

GeneD,
What parts do you need? Have you heard of Don's Marine Salvage here in St. Pete? They have acres of sheds filled with everything from raw materials (aluminum pipe, plate, stainless...) to old boat interiors and everything in between. Sometimes I go there at lunch and just mull around with a big smile on my face, dreaming of all the stuff I could build if I just had a heli-arc welder!!

Boxy,
I met up with the PRA guys at the Miami boat show and they didn't have any poker runs scheduled for anywhere south of Michigan. 5 out of 8 runs were in Canada.
Now, nothing against Canada. But if you are going to give yourself a name like Poker Runs America, let's have some events IN America.
They told me if I wanted to be in a Poker Run, in America, that I should contact Florida Powerboat Club. You know, the "rich man only" club?
I do believe they are out of business.
JB,
Never heard of the joint.
I'm looking for an intake manifold right now. I have located most of the missing parts so far, but the manifold keeps eluding me. I'm building a 1995 Mercruiser 5.7 with factory roller cam. The new blocks are different in subtle ways. For instance the old style oil pan will not fit, nor will the old flywheel. Of course the valve covers are different too, but that is not as big of a problem as the intake. Can't use an auto intake due to the EGR valve. Can't use the old style becasue of the 4 center bolts on either side of the heat riser holes, they go straight up and down, as opposed to the old style that goes in perpendicular to the mounting surface.
I've got some leads, let's see if they "pan" out.

Ahhh, I think you're looking for a "Vortec" style manifold. I had to buy a new one (Edelbrock Vic. Jr. Vortec) for my GM Fast Burn heads. Check out registry # GTX2100021, you can just barely see the Vortec style intake on the black motor in my garage with the high rise intake.

GeneD, you must mean holding a Poker Run in the United States, we are after all still a part of North America.(maybe they should change their name to "Poker Runs in the America's" http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif) The other reason may be that your dollar is strong, and our water is close to the majority of Eastern US performance boaters. AT least 75% of the entrants at this years 1000 Island Poker Run were from the US, and the lunch stop was in Alex Bay NY.
While those are good reasons, I still think it is THE BEER http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
