i think the 1976 boat is a performer--they boat the 28 mold and modified the upper deck.
changed windshield design and moved steering wheel to starboard. the newest 28 donzi i found was a 1974.

The 1976 boat looks like a Donzi and probabally is.
You may be unaware that Donzi did not manufacture the 28 in house.
The early 28's were subcontracted to Miami boat works and later (about 1972) they were subcontracted to Performer.
They are the same boat, made to the same specifications but for the interior which was redone with Teak and not formica and the steering was moved to the right, satisfying the new rules and a serious space problem for wireing.
There were some copycats and almost knockoffs but this does not look like one of them.
It was my information that the molds were NOT sold until about 1980 +/- or later and then they were sold to the former owner of performer who mothballed the molds for several years and then in the late 1980's began to manufacture the boats again and to this day manufactures the boat out of NC as a Performance Marine canyon runner for a mere $200,000.00. These new boats have had the top deck mold changed and the interior is injection molded. No more teakwood trim or cabinetry.

If the boat is in good condition, it is a great deal for $16k.
