I am looking to becoming one of those crane 272
people any one have any good suggestions on a cam for my 350 . What is the difference between automotive cams and marine it seems that the crane cam # for marine is the same as a milder automotive cam for cars ?

Ralph-GM makes a 345 hp H.O. 5.7 with a 235 degree duration hyd roller cam that lowers oil temp and pumps HP up 5-15HP.It provides 300 lbs torque @1700,379 lbs @3600.Recommended that you also use silicone springs w/dampers for dependability and high rpm-engine rated @5600 rpm.PN10134334 for the cam.I have this motor in my 18-it goes like stink, and it seems impossible to scatter it!Pushing 400 hrs this Sept....still just like new.

Ahhh...but if you don't have the new style block, you can't use the new style roller cam.
I think.
From what I can see on the block, the cam is held in place by a tab that has two bolts that screw into the boss by the cam bearing. The old style blocks do not have this new extended boss.
I am going to amke a comparison on old vs new.
I just got a digital camera and I will take photos to show the differences.

Ralph chech my post on Cams, that CDMA posted. I have worked with cams in cars boats and motorcycles for over 30 years. I also used to think I had 6 different cams for my Corsican but I have eight. I actually swapped cams and other combinations for over two years until Ii got what think I want. I was not a fan of the 272 grind untill I saw Forrest's little green giant run. Read the post. Call the cam people of your choosing, ask their suggestions, make your own choice that way any mistake is yours not somebody else. Rember the 70mph number maybe out of reach for the combination and your dollars. I have a 70mph combo I don't use because of drivability problems. It cruses at 4600 rpms, which is not fun in the total boating picture. The complete setup is what counts, not one component.
