Volvo 280 Question

With the pin in the center hole the reverse latch will not engage the pin. Anybody else have this problem

Yes, I've been there. As I recall I had to slighlty bend and reshape that rod which goes through the drive and attaches to the latch. Also make sure the whole latch assembly is lubricated well and moves freely.

I had a similar problem. I did the same thing nate did and it was great. Then it broke again so I did the only logical thing and bought Alpha.

Thanks for the responses. I recently purchased this boat and still havent had it on the water. Since this doesnt latch is this going to be much of a problem in reverse

Yes! Big problem.Get it fixed-not expensive,and it will save you a lot of anxiety(and some paint/fibreglass)!That lock IS your reverse.Without it, the o/d just pops up,and the prop fans the top of the water.
