OK,
What is the story with replacement carbs? I know Holley and Edelbrock make marine carbs but, does Holley make a Q-jet spreadbore replacement? Anyone use one?

Treir 4010 and 4011 series carbs are spreadbore.
I have no experience with them.

When I called Holley for carb info they told me the 4010 & 4011 carbs were discontinued. This was about 2 months ago.

Holley does make a spread bore carb, but I can't find the part number, their marine web site is all messed up. http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Marine/Marine.html . I remember seeing it when I was looking for a carb, it was either a 600 or 650 CFM. Just call the tech-line (270) 781-9741

I highly recommend the Holley.
When I was street racing back in the 80's, I was a confirmed Quad dude.
Then I had just about had enough of the Quadrajet and bought a Holley and the performance gain was incredible.
If you can find a speadbore Holley Marine, go for it.
And Yes, they do make a Quadrajet replacement, I am not familiar with their marine versions though.

The 4010 is a square bore and the 4011 is the spread bore. these are top loaders- tops come off so fuel stays in. fuel bowls are intregal. the 4010 comes in 600cfm and 750 cfm. the 4011 comes in 650 cfm and 800cfm. l like them bscause youy can change jets and not loose any fuel, takes about 8 minutes for all four jets. PAW sells them. the other day isaw the 4010 600cfm in Overton's. must be left over stock. jegs, and summit also sell marine carbs.

4011 is the polished aluminum "show" carb spreadbore. They also made a 4165 spreadbore in a Double Pumper-but it was a modular carb-probably not good for marine use.Now also discontinued-but in it's day would really pull your jowls back, and on top of a stock manifold.
I now have a Holley 1291 in my Donzi-came with the boat.I'm not impressed. It has the same 2 pc body/lid as the 4010-polished aluminum.Marine carb-nobody can find the 1291 nmbr to get a parts availability/rebuild kit.And.....like all Holley 4bbls-it has a power valve that can rupture if your motor backfires. As a matter of fact-it will rupture(probably) every backfire. It's not expensive or difficult to replace...$7.49 and 15 minutes toil. Why bother?Check out the Carter/Edelbrock line.Their 4bbls better engineered(Weber)and have no power valve.Nearly as tunable as Holley....can change thrust rod springs in 5 minutes, jets in 15.....also 2 pc body/lid.
Having had both,I would not repurchase a Holley.Only one guys opinion of course...

The Holley 4360 was the Q-jet replacement-and was for engines of smaller displ(up to 305ci).Weighed 2.5 lbs LESS than the Q-jet-but only 450cfm.Introduced in 1976 to be emission/mileage type carburetor.Radical departure from modular Holleys-2 pc aluminum.
Smaller primary venturis EXTREMELY sensitive to airflow and the pulses generated by long duration cams.Good economy.
