Have a 1995 16, the speedometer worked for awhile and quit. Disconnected hose at back of panel and blew back into it until heard bubbles at transom--seemed to be clear. Can't see any kinks in tubing. Tested guage using different hose, it works fine. Is it possible to blow compressed air through tubing to dislodge obstructions? Are these speedometers a constant source of trouble? Considering replacing with a GPS Gaffrig speedometer when they become available. Any suggestions/comments appreciated.

This may be obvious, but worth checking. My 16 used to get garbage stuck in the alpha pickup all the time. It could be just partly obstructed, allowing air through when you blow from the other end. Stick a needle in it and make sure it is completely clear. Sorry for the bonehead suggestion, but sometimes I miss the easiest things when trying to conquer a simple problem like this.

You can also use weed trimmer monofilament.
