I ahve just one more thing to add to this subject.
All those out there with the Mercury Thunderbolt ingition, BB and SB alike.
It is extrememly important to restrict initial timing to factory specs.
Remember, it is all computer controlled, and I mean everything. The distributer has no mechanical advance.
Let's keep our motors together guys and use my mistakes to further the hours on your engines!

If anyone wants the Total Advance on your Thunderbolt IV , send me the # off the module.

I get better start up and idle @ 2 over (10) on my Thunderbolt V. Although I like burning 87 octane in the 454Mag, I hate the knock sensor. The engine speed changes on its own.

I tried a new prop the other day and the 454 felt like it hit the revlimiter @ 4900. The engine is rated 4200 to 4600.
Does 300RPMs over rating sound right on a Thunderbolt V?

I am not going to spend too much time on it because one of the other Registry members (GEOO) gave me a great deal on a MSD system.
Thanks GEOO!!! http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Rick - 4900 rpm - is that with the Mirage Plus you had on order? If so, you're right where I'm at with my boat. What does your GPS tell you?

New Mirage 23 should be here today.
4900 was with a OMC 22 Raker,66.5GPS at the revlimiter.
You guys have a great time @ Eufalla.
