HyperB - depends on what you mean by the Midwest.
To me the Midwest is Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Probably not the same for you. In what states are you interested in vacationing?

Isn't "midwest" and "vacation" mutually exclusive? :) Seriously, we went to Beckley WVa a few years ago for a family reunion. It was beautiful there, we white water rafted down the New River Gorge, it was a real adrenalin rush. We may be headed back up there sometime this summer.

If you want to vacation in the midwest, think Lake of the Ozarks. Located midway between St.Louis and Kansas City, Mo. it used to be the largest man made lake in the world.

It is a lake where boaters rule.
