Time for a new section. A section consisting of photos of boats that have crashed and burned. PLEASE no Donzi Photos or Blood/Gore!
Just other brands of crashed boats. Email them to me and I will post them in the "Splash and burn" section.

If you want toasted fiberglass, go to Goldcoastpower.com. They have a great selection of abused boats for sale (mostly sportfisherman). Also a great source for diesel repower.

I have a ton of pictures like this.
But...they are all photos and I have no scanner.
Mostly race photos of crashed boats.
Two recreational boats that burned to the waterline.
I'll try to dig them out.

Scott('Poodle)or Gene-
TOTALLY off the subject:
We have friends coming to Fla. next week, and they have to DRIVE from Tampa to Orlando.
D'ya guys know how long a drive that is (realistically)? They may have to speed a little(a lot)to get to the Orlando Airport from Tampa (city).

It normally takes me an hour to get to the Orlando Airport from Melbourne.
It normally takes me 3 hours to get to Tampa.
You do the math!
To continue on the 'other' subject...I just got back my pictures from Key West...2 years ago! I got Big Thunder before and after pictures!
I just can not get over how close we were to the race boats. I got some really, really good shots of most of the Superboats being chased by the helicopters. Very cool.

More like 1 1/2 hours from Orlando to Tampa. Unless your're really flying low. Traffic is a real headache here in Orlando along I-4 near International Drive and the Disney area. I'm north side of Orlando, Oviedo, and it takes 25-35 minutes to get to the attraction area.

GeneD:

If you are talking about 1999 Key West, I've got pictures of Drambuie with the skin peeled for about 8 feet on the starboard sponson, and Big Thunder getting towed into the harbor with only the bow sticking up.

What a great time that race was!

Why..YES I AM!
If you saw Big Thunder getting towed in, you must have surely saw me. I practically escorted them in. In fact, we had hot pit passes and hung out by the crane and talked to the driver and throttle dude (can't remember their names) while they pulled the poor thing out of the water. I don't have pics of the damage to Drambuie, but I have pics of the repairs.
Hell of a week wasn't it?
Can't wait to do it again.

GeneD:

Big Thunder's owner was running the throttles in that race. I believe it was the driver's first race in Superboat. He had been pretty succesful in another class. They were doing great until they flipped in the last race. That four engine rig was eating everyone else up.

The owner has a marina at Lake of the Ozarks by the same name. Big Baha dealer.

Man I hate it when the pylons popup out of the water like that http://www.donzi.net/ubb/eek.gif. And he even kept the boat going straight!
