does anyone know who built these boats? I have read that Donzi stooped in 1980 and started back in 1989.This boat looks and and tagged as a Donzi? Just wanting to learn more about these boats. Thanks in advance.

Donzi has been in constant production, since the beginning. The company was producing boats in 1986-90 during the so called: "Genth era", in Tellevast close to where the present facility is. Chris Craft now occupies the first Donzi plant across the street from the Sarasota/Bradenton airport.

Why do you ask?

I first agreed with Donzigo's reply, but I just re-read the subject of your post, and now you've got me thinking.

Richard is definitely right, Donzi hasn't stopped overall production since the 60's...but you are asking specifically about the 16.

I just checked the NADA guide, they list the last Ski-Sporter 16' in 1980, and the first 16 Classic in 1990. I've also got a 1988 and 1987 brochure, and neither one lists the 16 as an option. Just the 18 and 22.

What is the hull number on the boat in question, that may tell us a lot. Hopefully it's just a case of an older Donzi that got restored and titled as a 1987, and not a case of a knock-off being sold as one eek!

hey guys thanks for the replies. I knew if anyone would know someone here would. The reason I ask is I was reading on the Donzi site of the history of the 16 and it says they stopped in 80 and started production in 89.What would I look for in the hull #? She is painted the classic red & white and has the donzi logo's on the sides. I have seen the hull # under one of the air intakes as well as on the tag between the rear seats. Just wandering. Thanks again
