How may of you want to do something cool to your hatch but do not want to mess up your orignal hatch.
I know want a cool hatch but want to keep my original pristine.

My glass guys are now making a mold for a 16 and 18 classic hatch.
The 16 hatch is off a 60's vintage (sorry Lenny I will get it back on the boat ASAP).

The 18 will have two types, flat style and mid 90's raised.

The 22 hatch will happen when I have someone loan me a 22 hatch to pull a mold off of.

The tentative price is 525 for a standard hatch
and 650 for one with a scoop.

For those who are interested go to aeroscoop.com and let me know which scoop you like. This will dictate which scoop we use. I need some feedback.

how about to replace triple hatch 18 style to one piece?

harbormaster

We would need all 3 pieces. We could then build one piece.

Will the 60's fit a 90's ?

My order of preference..
1. Cobra Jet
2. Boss Mustang
3. Mopar Six Pack
4. Aero Jr. Pro Stock

If i give you all three pieces and make them one will you be able to hinge a one part door? remember the curve of the barrel back design the top of the hatch is curved on the 66 2+3 and you would have to hinge from the back. Can you hinge on a curve like that?

You are the one who would be most able to answer that Question. We could always make the hatch open from the side.

No discussion - Clayman's

EDIT

Well on second thought - I need the raised hatch to clear both risers and carb. A scoop on a flat deck could accomodate my high carb/arestor, but I wonder what a scoop would look like on top of my raised hatch? Picture in my mind is not pretty - back to the other one I like - Pony Boy's GTX style would/could clear the risers.

Maybe I could just break out the jig saw and grinder and cut a scoop into the front of my existing raised hatch?

Hey Rick, you want to come help cut? wink

Tim. No Doubt that Claymans is awesome. Unfortunately I cannot afford $1000 worth of awesome. I am sure I am not the only one.

Anyone interested supplying a GT hatch for a mold?

I removed the core from mine and it lost it's original shape....

Scot, I prefer the "Cobra Jet" first and the "Aero Mini Pro Stock" second.

The Cobra Jet one is even ON SALE! Better strike NOW while the iron is HOTTTTT!!!

Interesting Topic....I prefer the Mopar Six and/or the Boss Mustang style if it was incorporated for a 22 Classic :D My other question/concern would also be clearence for aftermarket headers and exhaust? Would it also make sense to consider a raised design that would take these variables into account, regardless of the the style of boat? ie. for a 16, 18, or a 22 Classic...sort of like the one series of 18 hatches were, but make sure the raised area would be wide enough to allow clearence for say Stainless or CMI or whoevers aftermarkets risers? wink Otherwise the hood scoop only would address the carb clearence issue, with all of the lunatics moving toward Mach 10 with Whipples and the like...maybe it could be factored in as a design option choice, for an additional cost of course? Sorry I am ramblin here!...Doc

Dan I think you aren't Ramblin. When talking about Universally more clearance, You are making perfect sense. That is why I like Steve Marr's hatch. It makes more room for everything. Maybe this is the approach we need to pursue.

WoW Moody I am Impressed, a picture of the famous hatch and the "Precious Cargo" :D I guess I do prefer the Cargo after all :p Or are Jenn and Suze pretending to be Bow Thrusters?...Doc

I keep the bow and stern lines tied tighty together ,that way when the latch pops loose the hatch can only catch so much air.
