I had a chance to stop by [for 20 min or so] to a car show/boat show/poker run in my area this past weekend. I didnt know it at the time, but Frank's 26 was on display, along with his outboard 16. Had my digital camera too. Cool boat. Needs some work, but it looked to be all there.

Thanks for the pics McGary - Frank, that 16 O/B is really very nice. I've had that in mind for a while but most examples are pretty ragged out. Had a different color motor in mind but, hey, that old I-6 Merc. is a bit of a classic in itself. Congrats.

Thanks Everyone, she needs a little work. The engine runs but needs a good overhaul, The bottom has to be cleared of that nasty bottom paint and the deck has to be re Fiberglassed.
McGary, Thanks for the pics. I have been trying to get my Camera to load them but it wont let Me. This new XP is driving me nuts! I am sorry I missed you at The poker run, I was walking around that day to. The first run I didn,t go on.

Hey Frank, nice ride! Makes me feel like home with the Yacht Club trailer under it. They are clients of mine and are built right here in little old Humboldt Iowa. That boat will be a riot to run. Have you had it out on the water as of yet?

You'll love her... I've had mine 12 years and, although I would probably have liked an IO just as much, I absolutely love that boat to this day. The OB has the advantage of being relatively rare, I've only passed one other in all these years. Also, 2-stroke engines stand up to sustained high RPMs very well.

She'll have a sweet ride with the 115 but won't be fast. She can handle a 150 or 175 outboard with no problem. My motor weighs 445 lbs without the prop and I think that's about the max. Last year I closed the opening in the motor well for the control cables because it was so close to the transom, installed hydraulic steering, and moved the other cables into a conduit which passes through the forward bulkhead of the motor well (like many new boats are rigged). Best thing I did and probably necessary for any motor over 400 lbs. (My previous motor weighed 375 lbs and water would splash through the old opening when sitting at idle in a chop or when dropping off plane. I always worried that if I lost power in the bay, I could swamp.) Just my experience.

Thanks everyone, I don't want to make her to fast being my son conviscated the boat already. So 45-55 is just fine with me.
FJB-20 Yes. Typhoon is a Hi performance engine builder that can give you some awesome results. If interested call them at 732-477-6157 and tell them you are a friend of mine talk to Andy,Chuck or Dave. And tell them what you have.

I actually did swamp my 16. It has a 76 175 Merc on it and when I stopped fast the well that had a large rectangular hole in it filled like crazy. Sealed that up....lesson learned.
