The new 38 "fishboat" triple 250's, 60+mph real elagant.

The ZR ride was a little shaky, got up to 90 with alot of vibration.

What's missing?

http://www.donzi.net/photos/RLRIDED.jpg

Aronow inspired Cat, maybe a new Donzi, this was a really cool boat. Fast, cuts chop real smooth, enough party room for about twenty people and a killer sound system thats louder than the boat running with twenty-four mounted speakers and a 15" subwoofer under the console.

A couple of thousand watts in the console bay.

Not to leave all the ZX folks out, there are some really great looking new graphics this year.

Full Throttle graphics on a 28ZX

It wouldn't be a ZX line-up with-out the 38ZX and a new graphic package. Looks sweet!

Cat looks like a USA 39 from the front. Awful narrow tunnel.

Hydro's like to spit blades too...from experience.

What was once 4 is now 3...

No to sound tooooo sarcastic, but you'd think they had enough pride in the yellow Anniversary boat to put it on a decent looking trailer for the photo op's it would earn...

Poodle, everyone had the same comment on the cat's "hump". The boat was there for dealer evaluation. It's a killer party boat though I thought of it as a pontoon yatch.

Other stuff from the meeting.

Price cut on almost all of the ZX boats. 22ZX available with standard graphics again for 2004 with a big price cut.

Possible new 35ZX boat with a ZR flat deck.

No more Z-Care for 2004.

Dealers can no longer sell boats with more than 30 hours as "New" boats. Boats in this catagory will be sold under new guidelines as a "Demo".

CEO Lee Kimmell stated Donzi would probably not run a factory race team next year. They hope more private teams will buy and run the Donzi ZR and maintain Donzi's presence in APBA and other circuts. Donzi expects to shift some of the money and efforts from the racing programs to promote their products at local poker-run events. Outterlimits Marine in Newport Beach CA has taken delivery of a full canopy ZR to run in the western regional races.

Is anyone making the postulation that the Bravo drive is responsible for throwing blades?
Throwing a blade is either poor manufacturing techniques, or quality control. Merc excels in poor quality control, that is for sure.
As for Hydromotive heat treating their blades, that is news to me. They are famous for throwing blades too. Probably more famous than Merc.
Poodle, if someone from Hydro is telling you they are now heat treating their blades, well, I say they are handing you a line. I'll ask Julie and Matt next time I see them, but it would be impossible to re-work a prop once it's been heat treated, and we've labbed dozens of brand new props from them. It's like the cryo thing. Once it's been cryo-ed, it can't be re-worked.
I do know that Hydro changed their alloy formula a little while ago, maybe that's what they were referring to? Hydro does not manufacture their props, they have an office, and they job out the castings. I'm not even sure if they QC their own product. They have a small engineering room, a couple of offices, a stock room, and a shipping dept. Not as big a company as you would imagine.
Hey, speaking of props...guess who is now the lab finisher for Hydromotive?
Yup!
Throttle-Up.
The Donzi Cat...yeah, I look at it as being a glorified pontoon boat.
Still waiting for a Classic 27 from Sarasota...hope I don't have to wait too long.

16's gas tank filler...I noticed it on the starboard side, just in front of the grab rail.

The gas inlet is mid-deck starboard, a little eaiser to get to.

GeneD,

With regards to heat treating props, why can't props be reworked after heat treating? If anything, wouldn't they just need to be re-heat treated?

As for cryo treatment, from what I understand Cryo treatment's low temperature, or deep cryogenic cooling stabilizes the moving austenitic molecules and transforms the retained austenite to martensite. Why would you be unable to work the prop after this treatment?

Please shed some light on this as I am thinking of having my Blackhawk heat and/or cryogenically treated in hopes of increasing their lifespan.

Quote from Hydromotive's Website..
"All P-5 propellers are precision balanced, polished and heat treated as standard."
"Quad IV propellers are polished, balanced and more importantly, are all heat treated."

Hmmmm..
