Hi all, I have a '93 Classic 18 with a Ford 5.8L OMC. Noticed this weekend a kind of clacking sound emanating from the water circulator at idle. Determined this with a diagnostic stethoscope. Engined worked fine, temp was 140-160, as always. Is this something to worry about? Thanks in advance for your help.

Loosen the belts, check to see if the pulley wobbles of feels bindy ( If you feel a very evenly spaced small bind a chunk of rust may have gotten up into the housing and the vanes are hitting it. If its not wobbling and does not make any other noises its probably Ok the rust will probably go away with a little more running.

I think you were right, a piece of rust must've gotten in the works, hitting the vanes. It didn't feel wobbly when I loosened the belts. The noise is there but seems to be decreasing. Thanks for your help!
