Mate up?

Will an engine fitted for a Volvo 280 drive mate up with an Alpha drive?

The engine in question is a 351W. Will it bolt up in the same motor mounts?

Cuda the mounts may be different fore & aft but all are 22 inch on center so they will be on the stringers. Some Fords like mine have center mounts some have front not sure which is better if any. I am pretty sure you can scrounge the bell housing from a Merc/Ford I/O and be Ok.

I'm running an "F"-word engine coupled to an Alpha SS in my 16. In order to make it work, all you will need a bell housing from an old Mercruiser "888" package. The MCM888 was a 188 hp, 302 Ford with a "R" (pre-Alpha) package. The 888 belhousing will bolt up to the Alpha's inside transom plate. Also, you will also need the 888 coupler as well.
