Yoo Hoo! I just bought my first Donzi! I have waited forever!

http://www.donzi.net/photos/DSCN0066.jpg

I want to repower with a 350, but can't afford Mercruiser. Has anyone heard of Indmar's 5.7L Vortec engine?

Check here to read about it. (http://www.ebasicpower.com/engines/base/)

Are they a reputable company?

If not Indmar, where should I purchase an affordable 350 from? I want a complete (or near complete) engine. I do not want to build it from scratch.

Any suggestions??

As usual, any input is greatly appreciated!

Boat really looks like a find! Indmar has been around for a long time, that looks like a decent priced engine. Any idea of HP, can't beat a warrantee. Question is will it be potent enough for you? A lot of the guys get the itch for more speed real soon, maybe a little shopping for a little more power might in order. There are a fair amount of Hot ones up on Ebay for about the same $$. Not sure of any warrantees!

M.O.P.

It is 330 HP for a 16 footer. Shouldn't that be enough? What are your thoughts?

For a 330HP thats looks like a real good deal, but Mr. Poddle may do some magic for you! :D

That's a heckuva good price in my opinion... even has sealed fuel pump and correct j-tube carb installed for that price?? wow.
That engine is PLENTY for a good all around 16 package. The Crusader re-power packages are extremely compact and neater accessorie/s setup, much more so than the black brand is for attachments, and cheaper too..

Go for it.

The 5.7L Vortec is 310hp with all new GM parts. Sounds like a bargain at $3,299. I called and they said my Alpha drive would bolt right up to it without any complications.

Let me know what you can do. What I would really like is a bobtail 5.7 (300+ HP) for $4500.00 or under. Don't know if that is a pipe dream.

email me @ brianh517@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Great looking boat  , but the engine question I have is, how is the 70hp Johnson working out for you on the Chevy? eek!

Harbormeister,
I am looking to repower my 34 Silverton convertible. I am considering Yanmar diesels but, I am also interested in the 6.0 litre crusader bobtail package. If you can help with pricing on either, let me know.

I did some major poking around the Indmar deal looks to be the very best out there. I found several variations on the HP 295, 307, 310, 325 and 330 any of which should firmly plant bugs on your teeth. :D

question if you buy one of these to swap out for a merc i know you can hookup the wiring harness but how would it connect to the different type of distributor? i guess you would not use the thunderbolt setup. by the way i will be swapping from a v6.
