I just purchased a 2004 Sweet 16 classic with the 5.0 MPI mercruiser. It came with a vengence 14x19 3 bladed prop. I only have 2.0 hours on the boat and in my breakin period near wot the over speed alarm screams. I think I need to go to a 14x21 3 bladed wheel. Any comments or suggestions. The boat is awesome and seems to run about 55mph before the overspeed alarm comes on.
a little help please.
Thanks,
JW

You're right, a 21" pitched prop will bring your revs down. I had a 16 with the 5.0 and a 21 or 22 will be better for it.

I run a 24Turbo on my stock 2001 16 with 5.0/240 EFI. The rpm is at around 4800/4900 and the (speedo) says 60/62. I'm very pleased with the
overall handling of this prop. I got it from Dan's
Props in Pontiac, Mi I think it was around $360 -also the best price I've seen. Good luck

21" Turbo prop works perfect in my 16 Classic. I tried the 22" Turbo and it was a tad too much prop for my 305 EFI 220hp, 1.47 gear ratio. Rpm's are 4500 at 60mph.

I run a 22" Turbo on my non stock 350/16'. When all things are right I hit 65 mph (gps). Based on my experience I would look at the Turbo's before I look at anything else. You need to get a gps to see what your true speed is. Give me a shout if I can be of any help.
