I've finally rounded up nearly all the parts I need to put the engine back together for the Minx. The block has been hot tanked and honed. The crank has been turned.

A quadrajet spread bore has been purchased.

A set of powder rods has been pressed on the forged pistons and new moly rings installed.

Most of the accesories have been cleaned and painted.

New Crane cam, lifters, main and rod bearings.

Like new high rise cast iron intake, under it is new GLM exhaust manifolds.

Ran a tap through all the head bolt holes to be sure to get a good reading on the torque.

Purchased some assembly lube and plastigauge today. I have a set of heads I'm trying to buy on ebay. I'll know by 6 oclock today if I got them.

The rebuild is going a little slower because dad was in the hospital three days last week, and he was pretty weak today. Back in the day, he and I would have it assembled in one day, and that would be with the engine in the car. It's a whole lot easier on the engine stand. We're getting pretty busy with work, but I hope to have it together by the end of the week, if I get the heads. About the only things I need to get is a starter and valve covers. I AM going to have it in the water before Palatka!

Looks like its coming along real nice!!! I wish I knew that much about engines. I can't wait to hear you have that Minx the way you like it... Best of luck. :)

if you want to get the most accurate and repeatable torque readings and the best possible sealing on the head bolts invest in some ARP moly lube for all non water entering fasteners.. and hylomar for the water bearing threads...
