16 classic question

What were the engine choices for a 16 classic in 2000? I know a person considering selling his 2000 16 classic. He says it has a 5.0 litre / 220 hp mercruiser. When I look at the new 2003 models, they have 2 choices: 4.3 liter / 220 hp or a 5.0 litre / 260 hp.

I'm confused! Did they offer a 5.0 litre / 220 hp combination, or is this guy clueless?

In the 2000 PIG book the engine options are as follows:

MERCRUISER
4.3L Alpha @ 190 HP
5.0L Alpha @ 220 HP

VOLVO PENTA
4.3 GLSX @ 190 HP
5.0 GLSX @ 220 HP

Merc used to offer a 5.0L/220HP and 5.7L/260HP. Today they have bumped the 5.0L to 260HP and do not offer the 5.7L/260HP only the 5.7L/300HP.
