Courious would like to know what some of the other 16's with 5.0 Fords are doing speed wise. Both stock and warmed up.

My '67 16' has a fresh re-power, a slightly warmed up 302 with a Crane H-260 cam, Roush heads, Kodiak exhaust, Edelbrock manifold, and MSD ignition. I'm still in a break-in period, but my shop and I are thinking this engine is very similar to the last one, producing about 300 hp.

I ran, and expect to do the same w/ this setup, about 60 mph with a 14 x 24 Volvo Ultra ss prop. The original Volvo AQ200 costs me a bit of top end, and I could probably experiment with props since my top speed is attained at over 5k rpm's which I don't like to do. Not much selection for this drive, though.

Most 16's run 50-55, but some, like Forrest's, Emmo's, Grizzly's, and Sam's, will buzz along at 65+!!! Check out the hard work done by Madpoodle who compiled a database of performance numbers on a lot of Donzis. But I forgot what it is called and where it is linked...sometimes I feel so stoopid!

Tony,

I am going to put my props up for sale. Watch the parts for sale below. I will put them on Ebay and put a link there.

Both are made for Volvo 280 long-hub. Bother are thinned and Blueprinted. The 26 I was getting 65@4500 rpm in an 18' classic. The 24 I was getting 68 at some higher revs.

14 x 24 Spinelli
14 x 26 Merc Chopper.

Poodle,

My engine sits approx. 1-2" Lower then a Volvo setup. However; my Procharger is an M3 much larger then the normal M1 which is used on the small blocks and many big blocks. It should fit in you X ??
I run 10:1 CR, with the current pully, she ran 4.7lbs boost @ 6400rpm's (max rpm tested on dyno). So at cruise with little load I might only run 1-2 lbs of boost. The M3 is much larger then the M1 and will build less heat and it comes with a larger intercooler. (Procharger say @ 5lbs air temp will increase only 20-35 degrees) Heat is a major cause of detonation.
Procharger runs 10:1 cr with 10lbs of boost on cars. Cars don't run at WOT very long so you can run more boost then most marine applications.
However, My situation is more like a car then a normal marine application. I can't stay WOT for more then a few second's anyway.
If this engine was in a 24 footer I would lower the cr. GEOO

Yeah Geoo but the reason you can only stay at full throttle for a few seconds is that you run out of lake!!!!! You are the man! Thanks for leading the R+D for the rest of us! Hope to see you soon.
