I always thought more was better, and NEVER knew anything about this scenario. What exactly is it they are talking about?

That SB has been out for sometime, it applied to my last boat, they are saying, set up for flush at that RPM, not just idle, this is to ensure proper cooling/flushing, on the old boat I used to rev the engine on occassion, that is until I saw this SB.
I will add other SB's mention never being abve 1000 RPM when trimmed up (trailer), you will know why if you do it, the sound is not good.
If water is on full force you waste more than you use too.
I recommend if you are a salt water boater using Salt Away each and every time to coat the internals for longevity.

Probably to eliminate possible reversion problems during flushing.

The SB is for stock non modified engines, I can not imagine the risk of reversion at idle on a hose, never happen on a factory set up.
