I would like to try a 27 pitch prop if any of you guys would loan me one. I would take complete responsibility for it.

I have a 23p.
When I put my 502 in I tried my neighbors 25 Mirage Plus and could trim it out to 5500 rpm.

So I want to try a 27p to see which I want (I am sure I can still tune to get more RPM out of my motor.

My wife and kids are coming to AOTH, made the reservations today for Jamestown Resort. I would like to buy a prop by then.

Any sugestions welcome!
Thanks
Chris

After reading my post again today I made a big mistake. When I tried a 25p RH I could trim it out to 5100 (not 5500)
Sorry

I know I am a broken record! High RPM in marine applications is not a good thind especialy on Big blocks. You should try to prop them under 5K

Talk to you later

A 27 mirage plus will still be at the same or higher rpm.......and slower!!!
Yes I know it's sounds weird but the diameter
is alot smaller on the 27 than on the 25.
I have never found a boat that will run the 27
mirage plus...its a very weird prop.
just my 2 cents....

What would you suggest?

I would try to get ahold of a merc. 25 mirage plus
that was labbed by the mercury lab....just to try one first before you buy it....will add 250-300
rpm's and 1-2 MPH for sure

I had and ran a Marage plus and turned a little over 80 than switched to a Turbo 27 and pulled another 2 mph. My 27 marage 27 had the same diameter as Joe P 25 marage plus. We sent the Merc back because the Turbo was a better choice, and cheaper. I am running a prototype Turbo Lightning 28 inch pitch, but will bring the 27 Turbo to Cumberland, I have to do some testing on the new motor before I lend the 27 out. To date I havn't found a Merc stock prop on my boat that a Turbo can't beat. I belive Tom came to the same results on his 22 also.
I'm not downing Merc Props just stating facts on out boats. Remember try other brands you may be surprised. The marage plus is a good prop, maybe not the best for your application.

Do you have a web site for the turbo?

Randy,if you had to hazard a guess what model of turbo would you be looking at for a 350 sixteen foot application. Also, I thought I read that the Turbo might help reduce chine walking a bit. Have you seen this in any of your testing.

Griz -

How does the Turbo compare to the Mirage+ as far as lift characteristics? I have a Mirage+ 19, 21, and a 20 Cleaver....the Cleaver just gives so much more Stern Lift it makes the boat a lot more fun! The Mirage's get a lot of Bow lift, and they need less trim, but not nearly the performance. I finally got a GPS so I can do some actual testing. I'm thinking about picking up a Turbo to try, but I was curious if you had any insight on this characteristic?

Thanks!!
