To all who are knowledgable on the Blackhawk drive, what size prop came standard on the Blackhawk. Mine has 29 pitch but I didn't buy it new, so I don't know what props came on it. I can get around 75 mph with the 29 pitch. Does anybody have a Blackhawk with 31 pitch, what kind of speed can you reach?

I have a Blackhawk with 31's on it. 502 Mag MPI motor. In rough water at about 4800 we were pulling 78 GPS. Have not had a working speedo in smoother water to see what it does at 5000. They do throw a mean rooster tail when flying!

From my research, and Lord knows I spend way too much time at work doing this research, most if not all of the Donzi BlackHawks came from the factory with502 MAG and a 1.5 ratio Blackhawk spinning 31P props. This gave the boat a top speed of about 78-79mph. Mr. Bateman is right on the money with his setup... of course we didn't see that kind of speed at AOTH.... (justr kidding).... Waleye is running a different setup... his setup is a 72 X-18 with a 350 MAG and a 1.65 ratio Blackhawk. He is seeing the same top speed though, 77-78 mph with the 32P props. With the labbed 31P's he might be a little faster, but hes bouncing off the limiter... time for a new rev limter Steve??

I have a 1995 Classic, 502 EFI, 1.5 ratio and 31" props. The best I gave seen is 78.6 on GPS. Consistantly runs 75-76 with 2-3 people and 1/2 tank or so. I don't know what kind of tachs you guys have but I found my VDO was reading about 500 rpm low! It seems to run the best at 4800-5000 rpm. 31's are stock props on the blackhawk.

Rootsy!!

You gotta stop listening to that college age wino... You know how psychotic he is... sounds like you might have a serious case of Donzitis!

I think a BlackHawk would be way too much on a little 16... its a skittish boat as it is... make it even looser with a surface drive would be nuts! So in a nutshell, I am sure it would be AWESOME!!

You would need to get one of those IMCO setback boxes, back 12", up 3"... thats should do just nicely... but then you get to the cost.. BlackHawk drive $3500, Setback Box $2000, Hydraulic Steering $2000... total cost with labor, about $9000... Coolness factor.. Priceless!
