There were a few 7.4/bravo z22's also. 88 model, side exhaust. A bit heavy in the rear but runs nice.

Getting to the point, both boats same horspower , the same speed, The 22zx is poor out of the hole compaired to the classic. Reasion, On a ZX the stern comes up to the bow, bow doesn't lift like the clasic than drops. The bow on the ZX is real wet untill you reallg get going. The best speed I found on the 22ZX is with 10 inches approx. chop. Remember this is with a 315 hp 454ci. The Criterion can really trimn out well on glass water, the low power ZX can't. ADD chop and the ZX will really Rock and Roll. Both boats have their special points. Neither really rides better, just different. My son says his rides better than my Criterion, My wife disagrees. Me, each one has fine line difference. The ZX holds a tighter turn, it has speed rail contoured rear steps, than the Criterion. The Criterion banks steeper than the ZX. I really like both. Mine is more sedate in the looks department, ZX is more flash than class, This is just a suttle difference thoe. Make NO MISTAKE they are both Donzi, they are BOTH the boat to have. Final answer to the question you guys and gals are thinking. No I would not trade the Criterion for a 22ZX, nor would I trade it for a new 22 Classic either. Once you sit back and look at the Criterion, you just have to love it. I can actually say that pictures do not do it justice. When you drive it, its just neat.
