Yes they made the wood plug for the mold to make the fiberglass hulls. So you can say that they made wood before Fiberglass and it was for a very short time http://www.donzi.net/ubb/wink.gif Technically this is correct http://www.donzi.net/ubb/wink.gif.

Jokes, jokes, jokes...
Ralph,
This is the beauty of Donzi, and Don Aronow. He was one of the first to experiment with composite materials used in conjunction with polyester resin and fiberglass matt.
There was never a production Donzi made of wood. Nor was there a Formula made of wood. We can joke all day about the technicalities of wood plugs and molds, but that was/is standard when manufacturing a fiberglass boat.
Oh, and I've seen some Magnums with teak decks, hated it, but they are around and seem to be worth something. But I've never seen a Donzi with any kind of decorative wood, except the Sportfisherman's, and I wonder where you would classify those boats in the world of Donzi.

BG,
That IS odd...
I've only seen the fiberglass hatches. Teak? I wonder if that was some kind of option?
My sportfisherman has teak decks, all the way to the bow. I hate it. If you go any further than a month in this Florida sun without doing something to them, they turn grey. And it doesn't matter what kind of cleaner or sealer you use, I've used them all.
The Magnum I saw with the teak decks looked silly and also homebred. It just didn't look original or cool.
Wood...let the Chris Crafts deal with it.

Ken said he removed them becaus theu were very heavy. Remember 001 was the boat show model. I have not seen them myself just passing on info. I wouldn't have them too hard to keep clean.
