Hi everyone. In chatting with the harbourmaster about why my last order took a while to ship, it led into some interesting topics:
a. There are costs involved in running a website.
b. He's gotten a little overwhelmed with items people haven't bought. We come up with good ideas; but, when we don't buy everything, (like the 50 extra mugs in his living room, which cost $4/$5 to send out, leaving about $1 profit), he gets a little over-extended with money in inventory.
c. Since Scot asks for nothing and depends on donations, and the profit from the shirts, etc, it's pretty tough for him to hear of someone on the registry saying the cost is too high, they can get em cheaper, etc. Scot has even heard from people wanting to negotiate prices. Hey, it's all true, the prices include a donation, that's all. It's no secret that Scot makes a nichol, when selling the shirts for $22. My feeling is that it's better make a $22 donation and get a shirt than make a donation and get nothing.
d. It's been a while since someone put a post up to send the man a small donation.
e. I have found some really great new friends, only from my association with the registry. It belongs to us and there's never a commercial angle to it. Let's keep it that way.
What do you say, let's send a $25 or $50 or more, if you feel so moved. He's running on empty with no fuel dock in sight.
