Sutphen never had a collaboration with the Chisholms. This happens alot with older pre '74 boats when they get retitled and the new owner hasn't a clue as to the maker cause it was thru an estate sale or some third party. So they hyphenate makers in strange ways. The state doesn't know one make from another. So it may very well have a Sutphen/Donzi title. And it may be a Donzi or a Sutphen - both not both. Some of the twin names make sense, like Thunderbird-Formula, or Magnum-Donzi or Donzi-ChrisCraft. Those have traceable histories as to the co-joining of names, but not Sutphen and Donzi. In the sailboat world this happens alot also. You can have a beautiful design, a Kiezer 26 for instance, that was being copied by a company called Berlinger. Well, sure enough, sooner or later it will get titled as a Berlinger-Kiezer; though, Kiezer had nothing to do with its build.

To the untrained eye, the two makes Donzi and Sutphen are very easy to confuse. They have the same heft, bullet-proof build and negative shear to their lines.
