The Dragon on Dragon point fell into the water sometime between Sunday nite and Monday morning. Anyone who has traveled the Bananha River or Indian River near the souther tip of Merritt Island knows what I am talking about. Gone for good!!!

The Pineda Dragon is gone?

I guess nothing lasts forever!

NO! That was the coolest thing. I used to live in Cocoa Beach and then Melbourne back in the mid '80s and always like seeing the the Dragon as I passed by the south end of Merritt Island in the 16 Donzi. Bummer. Any plans to resurrect it?

Years back the family had a place on the Banana River. I remember the Dragon well. Sure hope they replace it.

Years ago I guess they tried to raise money to save it. I guess it didn't work. The sculpter has passed away. I am glad my kids got to see it before it went....

Ok, ill be the one to ask the stupid question. Is the dragon on merritt island a big dragon statue at some point on the water? If not fill me in. My company has a branch office in merritt island who i speak with from time to time, and its always fun to catch them off guard with a mention of a local landmark.

Sorry to see it go. It was a real landmark.

Does anyone have a picture of of the dragon that they could post?

Yeah, I got one somewhere...
What a bummer!
It was inevitable I guess, the thing was getting extremely dilapidated.
I doubt seriously that anyone is going to take the time out to rebuild it. There never was any serious effort to fix it up.

Now, I've heard many tales over the years about who built the dragon and his hatchlings... anyone know the real poop?

that looks pretty big, how'd it just fall in? did it walk over or have the piece of land it on fall apart?
