Battery hiss?

Is it gonna blow or what? Ran down my battery trying to start a frozen starter, replaced starter, and started to charge the battery in the garage. Wife screams its hissing and gonna blow. whats up? The guy at the battery wearhouse, claims that it should take 24hrs to charge a 90 amper at a 10amp charge rate. Is this true, and why the hiss? Is my garage going to be there when I get home today? Thanks

When you run them way down you should start at low amps and any time you charge a lead acid battery take the caps off, one thats only down a little will take a charge at a higher rate without that problem.
