Anyone run one of these on a Donzi? Did it improve performance? I'd love to join the "70" club and only need 3-4 mph to do it. Any comments are appreciated.

Ranman,
I have been doing some casual research on these things also. I have personally spoken to 2 people who have installed them; one on a 16 Donzi and another on a 21 Challenger. Both gave the same opinion. They stated that the handling and chine walking improved drastically and they "thought" they may have gotten a couple of extra miles per hour. Nothing solid yet. My concern is the additonal stress that this must place on the pivot points and steering linkage as well as the trim.

Ranman,
Ask Land and Sea for the persons name who they have in there ad. The add lists a 18 Donzi with the gain in speed. GEOO

I recently spoke with a guy at the Lake
George meet in June who installed one
on a 16. He also mentioned outstanding
improvements in handling but was less
sure about top end speed. He felt he
was not getting enough out of his 3
blade prop. I suggested he try a 4 blade
since these units can be raised 2" the
3 blade might not be hooking up that
well. In theory an IO jack sounds like a
great idea, OB owners have been
useing them for years on bass boats,
flat bottons and modified vees
such as Hydrostreams. If you read the
the ad the Donzi 18 listed seems not to
benefit as much as the other boats
listed. Also this unit is exspensive, I
would want to see a clear benefit first, I
would rather dump 4,000 plus into a
motor first. If better handling is your
goal an extenion box might be the way
to go for a lot less $. The Land & Sea unit
also kicks the drive back 8" and I think
this is what is provideing the inproved
handling.

I ran into a guy on Lake Charlevoix a couple of years ago with a 18' viper(a 2+3 knock off). He had a Land and Sea drive extension box and loved it. He was running 79 mph on gps with a strong 383 chevy build up.
