Donzi Fans,

What a weekend! Once again the Donzi fever is rising to unbearable temperatures! Lake Winnie is surely a hotbed of Donzi fanatics.

My kudos to the entire gang who made it possible - George Culotta & Bonnie Wadsworth (two of the finest people on the planet), Richard and Cynthia Weaver, Goodhue and Hawkins Boat Yard, & Deek and Mary Codding. This crew did a great job of organizing and getting you all there.

Special thanks to Ken Goldberg and wife Rochelle. They decorated their Rock Island home for one of our stops on the Run. Had the whole family involved. It was great to see Ken up and around and enjoying the Donzi lifestyle once again. Great job!

For those of you who missed it - I can't impress on you enough how much fun and excitement we had. Lake Winnie has become the largest Donzi Only Poker Run in the country!!

Once again thanks to all of you and I look forward to seeing you again soon at a Donzi event coming to a location near you soon.

Donzi Marine thanks you for your enthusiasm and your invitation to include us in your festivities.

Oh gosh, I'm extremely jealous.
And you say Ken decorated his house for the Run? That is something I would have loved to see.
Let's hear some stories guys.

What a great weekend beginning with dinner at the Naswa to the farewell on the beach. It was wonderful to see everyone's hard work payoff. We met so many nice people who live right in our backyard on the lake and I'm sure we'll keep in touch. As far as stories I'm sure they'll be many -- including "The Divine Mr M's" entertainment for us on Friday night (pix available). Thanks to everyone, especially Bonnie & George, who made this such a great Donzi event. Can't wait for the next one.

Thank you to the Lake Winni. Donzi Club Committee, Mary & Deek, Dana, John & Trish, David Fields (who couldn't make it). This was a lot of fun. And if not for the people mentioned, it would not have been possible. David Fields, thank you for the generous gifts for the raffle. Sorry we missed you. A special thanks to Mike Miller & (the missing Angie) for helping us get this club off the ground. Thank you to Lake George club for the ideas, to get the club going. We would still like some imput as to what we can do different next year. Especally from the sweet 16's. Sorry guys! (However, it was all 16's that won the race and walked away with some very nice gifts and trophys!.. Your imput is important, so please pass them along. Also, there will be a informal, picnic at Goodhue in Sept. Dana offered us the docks and the burgers. Date to be announced. Thanks Agian.

To continue the above thread...it was a great weekend. Lets see GeneD wants some stories...I could mention to you that Trish & I arrived at the dinner Friday night not knowing anyone and were greeted by two guys standing in the lake up to their knees to pull 'Crazy Horse' in (Tom Davis and Steve Marr). That is how it began-we weren't even out of our boat yet and we were meeting great people. When I introduced them to Trish they acted like it was old home week with her based on the t-shirt picture I had posted! I guess I could mention the $500+ dinner bill with way too many bottles of wine. And my being locked in the (women's) bathroom with Jill & Susie (two hotties) while Tom escorted my wife to our boat. Back to the wine, I guessd it should be me that mentions my run in with the law. Handcuffed, removed from my boat, charged with Operating Under the Influence (Susie, Jill & Trish)...no such luck-DWI. I'll write more as things develop (court date mid-Sept). First offense, hopefully it won't be too expensive#@%*. Next morning I arrive one hour before the starting time to help Bonnie & George greet the folks. I'm Gassing up my boat and the kid working the pumps says 'there's a lady up there picketing Donzi's and your name is on one of her signs'...Half hour conversation with this(nice) women who among many D-related things was upset that I refered to 'the dots on the horizons were kayaks and not speedbumps'...Then there was the shouting of one of our group at somebody for moving his boat without permission...Then there was the rain storm (down pour) which lasted for about 10 minutes only 10 minutes into the run...there was Steve Marr's amazingly fast X 18 with a 100 foot rooster tail (this boat is Faassstttt)...and Kenn's gem, Tim's '87 Minx (my favorite)...The Weaver's 1968 Donzi that is about as cool as it gets...as well as the lead Donzi a 38' which Jared my 5 year old (who sat on my lap and drove the entire Poker Run) kept saying to me-why don't we have a Donzi like that one?...
I took PICS with my digital and will post them shortly. In the meantime, George Cullota & Bonnie, Mary & Deek thanks for putting this together. I thought that I was just buying a boat but it's turned out to be much more then that. Thanks to everyone for a great time. It was nice to meet you all. PS: Pending my court case next season I may be riding in one of your boats http://www.donzi.net/ubb/frown.gif

Handcuffed!!! They handcuffed a respected extreme member of the Donzi Registry? A boating DWI? What happened??? Tell me it's not so. Well, glad to hear that it was lots of fun, but hmmm, sorry that you got busted.

Best of luck, and when in doubt don't blow it.

John,
http://www.donzi.net/ubb/eek.gifI am FREAKED OUT! http://www.donzi.net/ubb/eek.gif
This is incredible!
BUI?
Oh man, you know what though? This is going to happen to me someday too! Too good of a time, and slamo, right in the clinker.
Forrest is right though, never blow. The suspension time is the same.
Hey, talk to Kenn, he'll get you out of this!
But that aside, I guess you had a good time huh?
Donzi people are the best, and it doesn't matter where you are.
I did want to hear some stories, but not horror stories!
Oh geez! I still can't get over it!

Hey John,
Sorry to here about your woes. They certainly would not have been any better had I made it up for the weekend. I'm not a very good influence. It sounds like an awesome time (except for the ride downtown) Hopefully I'll be up and running in a few more months(time is running out for the season) We would love to get together with you all sometime.
ps Thanks again for the invite, I really regret not taking time away from the boat to make it up there!

John,

The bretheren in the Century's are out there. I had a run in with one last Memorial Day over by Sleepers Point. No charges but lots of authoriatative "know it now" stuff. Was there libation, yes, hammertime, no. All done under the guise of "where is your anchor light"? Ah yes, the promotion of public safety or overtime revenue generation? Bad rap, best of luck.

Tim.

Guys, thanks for the support. It's just one of those things...I'll keep you all posted but until I have more concrete news, I'm heading back up to Lake Winnie tomorrow and will be there through the weekend. Anyone going to be around?
Best,
John

Hi Folks - just wanted to make the offer of photos of the past weekend events. We have about 60 digital photos and if your boat is in one of the photos I'd be happy to email it to you or if you're on our lake I'll print you hard copies. Have pictures, John, of our infamous Friday night party. Not going to be on the lake this week -- golf at the Jack-O-Lantern instead -- but will be next weekend. So if any would like pictures please let me know.
