saw a friend at lake conroe this weekend that just bought a '96 (only yr built) four winns U-19.. It's a damn good donzi rip off! have any of ya'll ever seen one? the 5.7 275hp package can't hang with the riverrat. I walked away from him from a dead stop. that happens to alot of people with the 23" prop I'm running at this time. I'm going to try a 25" next week since I can hit the rev limiter still.

riverrat: I have never seen one in person,
but read a test about the U boats in
Boating Magazine sveral years ago, they
thought is was a nice effort but held no
advantages over the Classic 18, including
price. The boat came in a 17 & 19 footer
which positioned it above and below the
Classic 18. The magzine thought that
Four Winns needed to do some more
homework on thier vee bottom since it
leaned at high speeds, this was not the
case with an earlier Classic 18 they
tested. They also commented that
Don was likely spinning in his grave.
The final conclusion was why buy a
expensive copy when you can still have
the real thing. I am not shure if 4 winns
is even still makeing this boat, could
have not been a big seller since I have
never seen on the water.

I see many of them up here in Victoria. (the 17 only mind you) Never have I seen a 19. The local dealership has about 6 of them right now. In off season they sell for about $25,000 CAN. before our 2 taxes. (7% and 7%)About $19,000 US converted, complete, taxes in. Ford power here with a Volvo SX leg. Claimed box stock top speed is 62mph for the 17. Your're right in the fact that could have a "real one" (used) for that. Hence why I don't have have a Four Winns and am waiting for the right DONZI.

They also stated that the hull was very unstable at high speeds, The Chine was real bad. I took one for a ride before I bought my 16. I paid the extra money for the real Donzi.

Frank, I saw them at a Boat show a few years back. Then I read an article in, I think it was Hot Boat, and they said it was not good when it started to chine walk!!! GEOO

There have been several on boattrader.com for a while. I think the deck is ugly and windscreen makes it look cheap.

Is that the fuel filler cap in the middle of deck stripe!? What ever, the whole thing is bogus.

Remember that Four Winns is an OMC company. I guess they felt that they had rights to copy whatever when they owned both companies.

That thing looks like HAMMERED S--T !! I would rather have a row boat with a BB Chevy.

My 2 cents

Hey, you guys are out of control.
I think the thing is a looker!
Whether or not it performs is another question. What really peaks my interest is the emblem on the deck, and the little raised rib thingys on either side of the front deck.
The windshield don't look all that bad.
Let us keep in mind...it IS a Four Winns and NOT a Donzi. Not that I would ever own one, but...
I encourage all novice boaters to get this boat, it just keeps raising the value of our pocket rockets.

Lenny,
The pictures should open up and be visable when you open the posting. I'm assuming from your message that they are not. I don't know maybe try refreshing the view?

Also, try this link, there are more pictures of the boat here.
