Yesterday, April 1st, saw two of the big guys in high performance boating pass away. Jim Breuil, Jr., ex-prez of Magnum and Enterprise, and Dick Genth, ex-prez of most everything else, both checked out yesterday. Damn, I'll miss them.

Well, when they do die, there should be no sadness. There is no sadness over a life well lived. :D

Hearing this news really hurts. Jim and Dick were two of the best. Great boating pioneers but more important, great guys. To have known them is to never forget them. I smile when I think of the good times.
Condolences to
their families.

There isn't much to say except that these MEN will never be forgotten. They were and are among the real Champions of Offshore racing and boating.
this saddens me.

I met Dick at the 1960 Miami-Nassau Race. He was a Colonel in the Air Force. He raced a Woodson Thunderbird 20' in the race. They beat the bottom out crossing the stream, and sank just east of Cat Cay. They tied the raft to the partially sunken boat while they unloaded beer, etc. When it sank, it took the whole thing to the bottom. Fortunately, the tether rope broke, and the raft resurfaced. They had to swim like crazy to catch it when it came up. It all worked out OK in the end.

Its sad to hear about your loss.

Good story on 1960 Miami-Nassau race so was the beer a little foamy?

Excellent story Allan.

That sounds like an interesting run in a 20' boat.
