Here are the photos that the dealer posted of the boat. Unfortunately, the photos I took did not come out.: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=1165039&a=10646984&p=36420134

Boat is an '82. Originally powered by BBC/TRS it was re-powered in '91 with BBC/Bravo1. Filthy but otherwise very solid. Need to get the bottom paint off, and clean up. Having the gimbal bushings replaced now to cure some steering slop. Need to find a trailer by spring and need to find someone to buy the Donzi!

Nice unit. Is horse power a secret, Why did he replace the drive unless he had big power with the MercII trans, hatch looks taller than I remember. Maybe I getting too old and memory is fading. Anyway good luck with it.

The dealer that I bought it from re-powered it in '91. Supposedly got a good deal on the 454/Bravo package and was happy to lose the big TRS and tranny. HP is 365.

Did they rebuild the stern? I though the bravo had a smaller housing. I though about doing that too, trs and tranny takes from 50 to 80 hp depending which trans you have.

Sorry Poo, Like I said I though about it but I'm not going to do it. Think about it the merc trans takes less hp than the Borg Warner. The TRS drive will hold 250 hp more than the Bravo. It would be cheaper to add the ponies to the engine than change the drive. The Black Hawk drive is a real pain, two props no parts, they don't even use them for racing. Its a has been. That doesn't mean the Blackhawk Donzi is bad, its a total package and would love to have one. Remenber the Bravo sucks up more than Volvo or the Alpha. The TRS has the prop set farther astern than the Bravo, like having a stern jack. Point is, I just added a few extra horses to an existing unit, now I can play with Frank C. and still have an original. Keep your drive, I will help on the pony end, and give all info you need. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/cool.gif

Randy,
I was not aware that the transom had to be re-done! I saw no signs of it. I will have to look closer next time I am down there.

MercII sucks up 15-20 hp over the new bravo. A friend says it is easily overcome with upper end torque. The ofset and the aspect ratio is better than the bravo. MErcII is more stable at speed. Merc stopped making them because of cost and physical size. Doesn't fit under a standard rear motor box. It needs 6" to 9" more space.
As for durability I know a boat that has twins and 800hp that gets big air on his 32 foot. No problems yet
