Actually, a few years back I boarded a 740-foot Japanese container ship in Portsmouth, VA, that had the 9-cylinder version of that engine. They said that it was very economical in comparison to other older conatiner ships using steam turbines. When I was there, techincians were in the process of changing out a turbocharger which was about the size of a double car garage. Just like in GEOO's X-18, there is no transmission. Start the engine and you are moving. For reverse they just start the engine in the opposite direction. Also, the ship has is own crank-case oil re-refining system so the oil never needed to be changed.

Not to bad, I thought the Japaneese only made 4bangers!?!?!

In all honesty, that is amazing, the whole crosshead idea to stop the walls from forming the oval shape...brilliant.

I think just a little cutting on the Vega fenders and that puppy will squeeze right in there!
