I love my 16 to death but I want more top speed. It turns 4500 at WOT. Heads? Intake? Carb?

Naperville...I fly into ORD all the time... :D

1. Bad Gas? or old gas w/possible water or contamination?
2. plugs/wires
3. ignition/distributor?
4. Prop size? to much prop = lower rpm
5. Throttle linkage adjustment?
6. Carb adjustments if not EFI/ is it clean?
7. Flame Arrestor clean?
8. How you trim out your boat. The drive and tabs?
This just a list for starters...many more will add in i'm sure but you need to start somwhere to isolate the problem. Keep us posted..good Luck wink

What engine, drive, and prop do you have, 4500 rpm is bad. Any idea of your speed now?

Don't know top speed with GPS but the onboard floats at like 53-55 at WOT. No tabs yet, next year.

How fast can a 16 safely go?

I have the drive down as far as it will go otherwise it will porpoise.

350, Alpha One, 19P.

Getting the tabs would be my next must have, they do wonders for our 16's. Speed like Rootsy says is $$.

my 97 16/350 gen II was 53 mph out of the box... 23 mph has cost me about 5K...

as far as how fast can you go safely? i'll let you know when i get there...
