Although our new neighbor (literally) DIGGER has been enjoying the chop sloppy bay water recently with us.
Today was the extreme opposite, an early Marine Corps rise to tow to Kerr Damn,
for some lake boating out west!

Fun time was had by all, he now has lots of color!
By the way, he will have his PC up and running soon and will be back on the board.
It is packed in his household move truck.

He will be attending the 1000 island gig after picking his boat up in NH,
and he is on track for the Winni Poker Run also.

Oh, and he is officially taking applications in the Hampton Roads area,
from all the single woman we know who like to have fun/boat! :D :D :D
Tough screening progress! LOL

He sends his best to all his Donzi friends! :)

Lastly on the lake today we met Mark Rodgers ('87 22 Classic, BB Ford)
whose dad worked at Donzi in the mid 80's, he had some neat stories.
I told him of this website and we should hear from him soon.

Just FYI.

Bryan, did you get any pics? Way back we use to occasionally tow the 16 Donzi up to Bugs Island Lake and Kerr Reservoir from Virginia Beach It was a big deal back then to make that 180-mile tow down the old two-lane US-58 pulling that Donzi behind a tired 6-cyl '77 Chevy Nova over all those hills. It was worth it because that is a beautiful lake.

Are you telling us you got Digger to move out to Great Bridge? :D

FORREST, we will have the pictures this evening with luck.
We will post them soon, the water was way high, 25' above the norm, B and C parks under water.
Lake was at 315'. We launched the boat on A ramp which was also completely underwater.

Yes DIGGER's new house is being built about 3/4's of a mile away from ours.
Kerr from Chesapeake (Deep Creek) was 130 miles, not to painfull up old SR 58.

I guess that it seemed like a 180 miles in the old Chevy.

I am dying to get down to Lake Kerr/Buggs Island Lake.

Can you share with me your thoughts, where did you launch good places to stop.

BVERD: Kerr is an AWESOME place.
History: last years drought hurt them and the Damn Water Control Management screwed
them this year and over compensated (so the locals say, I have no clue!), in anticipation
of this year, so they flooded her hard,
then came a butt load of rain (as we all are aware of for this year!)...

They have one ramp open (A) and their prediction is now with these temps she will be normal
by mid August. (A ramp B and C are all very nice) (A) was underwater but very usuable...

Take 58 to Buggs Island Road, $4 for a vehicle with a boat and follow the signs. We do allot
of great things and I have to tell you, Kerr is presently the BEST thing we did all year, so nice,
deep, clean, just flat out nice! We rafted 4 boats togetjer and just floated, no anchor.
Very nice, and local boaters respected
your space and did not Scream
By close aboard.

Coming from the west as we did 58 provided fuel and bathroom stops frequently, etc.,
and there is one final CITGO Station on Buggs Island Road, 3 miles from the entrance to the park,
and they also have diesel fuel.

Let us know when you are coming down.
