What a nice 1st class job he did on that boat! That thing is beautiful.

wow... isnt on a 16 there a crevice in the bottom of the hull to increase handling under 60mph but make the boat scary as hell to drive above 60?

btw, do i see a blower in there???

This Donzi was insane, it was soooooooooooooo fast it beat the chase boat which was a 28 Scorpion... eek! (Blower & Lightning Headers) The owner claims he is well above 80 mph.... even the Prez of Winni took a minute or two to admire the handy work:cool: ...Doc

hyper,

the chine has a hook in it but that hook is gone by the time it reaches the outer strake... at speed the boat rides no where near the hook unless you are turning... the hook helps you get out of the water and up on plane quicker but that is about all...

Brian73,
Look familiar? :D

This is the 16’ that I posted about earlier but with no one to back me up about it. I was in the twin 377 scorpion 28zx with this 16’ passing us at full throttle and running real nice in the chop. Like I mentioned earlier, it has around 700hp and will hit the 90’s.

Randy,
Thanks for tossing these shots up here because I never got back to the docks after we got back for the Poker Run with a camera.

I thought I was the only one seeing this sixteen during the Poker Run, Donzi Jenn, you are my witness, right? :D :D I have felt like I was in the movie called the "Twilight Zone" and no one saw the monkey thing ripping up the wing of the plane.

Again, who was that goggled insane man???

Hey Randy,

Do you think you could talk him into comming up to the Titty River sometime. I got my a$$ blown away this last weekend by 22' to 24' Checkmate with a built big block. He thought he was so cool.

It is a WOW! Looks like a perfection job. The tabs look like Bennet rams, can't believe they hold up with that leverage I broke a ram last year on a landing. Sure would like some more input on the tabs. Anyone know how to get this guy up here?

Wow great set up I would like to talk to this guy if anyone can get him on line it would be great. I see alot of us would have questions for him. What a great asset to the group. He know whats up on the water thats for sure...

...unbelievable...I no longer think I can be happy with 60 out of Scots' boat...

It is not "BIG" but it is definately a BAD DONZI...think there is any relationship here? wink

Lenny, you can easily hit the mid eighties with the new sixteen... on I84, north of Salt Lake!

That's an awesome boat... do the monster trim tabs double as a swim platform?

oldLenny

'Toona, I think it is basically an 18' with the tabs down, maybe even longer...

HOLY s!@#$%!!!!!!
the only thing I would change is putting the driver seat back on the correct side!!

Geoo might have to give up the name might mouse!!! and move up to secret squirrel or some thing. so let's recap

16 worked to the balls 90mph
18 worked to the hilt 104mph

so you 22 guys worked to the max should be running 110 something ?????? right :D :D

Matt
feeling alittle inferior with my 16 now

I'm pretty sure that I heard the guy just bought it last week and he was not the one that 'modified' it. It was one of those things where he showed up just before the Poker Run and then he took off right after the Run. Brian73 was on the thing for 2 of the stops and was talking to the owner during that time, Brian are you out there?

Looped,

I will support your statement. It was just wrong to look over from the backseat of a 28 and see a 16 go flying by. Talk about fast! We definitely got some giggles out of it! :D

Digger,

I may have a new wing man . . .

Isn't this boat pictured in the back of last years catalog (2002)?

Hang on tight!

Must see run to believe! I can squeeze 70 MPH out of my 302 F-word powered (about 290 hp) 16 Donzi with an Alpha SS, but I just can't imagine upwards of 700 hp in the same boat. eek!

What drive is on the back of that thing? I don't see any external steering rams back there. You don't think he's running the stock . . . naaa, no way.

Ranman

Forrest, I believe it has some sort of modified Bravo drive like an XR or XZ. It also has full hydraulic steering (obviously). I cannot verify the HP or the 90MPH, but this boat easily passed a 28ZX Scorpion running in the mid 70's on very flat water. Randy

HOLY s!@#$%!!!!!!
the only thing I would change is putting the driver seat back on the correct side!!

it looks on the correct side to me....

18 worked to the hilt 104mph
i think geoo would like it to say 104.3

Ranman

Hyper, I think what Mattyboy is referring to is the fact that the original Donzis from the 60's sported left hand steering.

So, I guess SIZE does matter !

Great pics, Randy..you are everywhere!
Anybody ever find this guy? I see he's added a couple extra "Oh Sh*t" grab handles just fore of the hatch. I can see why!!!

WOW! ABout time the 16's are cool! A 16' at 60mph is scary! eek! ...let alone at 90mph that's crazy and unsafe. I would put that much power and time into something designed to handle that kind of power. My 2 centz...None the less sweet 16!
