I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 1973 16' BABY DONZI WITH A 1978 MERCURY 200HP BLACK MAX ENGINE. WHILE THE PERFORMANCE IS REALLY EXCITING WHEN YOU GET TO ABOUT 50 MPH THE BOAT STARTS TO CHINE WALK AND BECOME LESS STABLE .ALTHOUGH THERE IS A SMALL PIECE (ABOUT 2"BY 3") BROKEN OFF OF THE ENGIN'S HORIZONTAL STABILIZER , THERE ARE NO OTHER UNUSUAL ISSUES WITH THIS BOATS SET UP. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO STABILIZE THE CHINE WALKING TO GIVE THIS HULL BETTER TOP END PERFORMANCE ?

Having helped put that same motor on a 16 awhile back it had to be up on the third or fourth hole to get rid of the chine walk. That hurt the hole shot a lot but got rid of the chine walking. After the raising of the engine he put tabs on to help it get out of the hole. There are a few outboards up here that I am sure will have some good input to help you along.
