Anyone know any raw water pump / trans. oil cooler specialists. I'm lookiing to have someone take a look at my old circa 1969 cooler and pump to advise me if a rebuild is possible. The pump is a crank mounted sherwood model number says "pat. pending" i.e. no model number that appears to be frozen. I'm also not sure if the original trans. oil cooler is any good. Does anyone know of a reliable/honest shop up north or anywhere that will look at this stuff for me?

Steve, Glenwood Marine in CA, (213)757-3141, They sell all types of V-Drive parts, Coolers, engine mounts, exhaust, props, running gear. I have one of their catalogs. I also know of a shop in Long Island who repairs & builds coolers.

I'm going to Opsail on Saturday; staying at American Wharf Marina. Call me if you'll be in town. (203)258-5222 GEOO

Also, its usually best to replace those Sherwood, Jabsco, Johnson, or other crank mounted pumps that have a frozen bearing rather than attempt to rebuild them. They run about $125 and are available from Basic Power Industries in North Carolina (http://www.basicpower.com) as well as other sources.
