I own a 1995 16 Classic and want to install a stereo. Configuration is 1 Driver chair with wrap around seating. What is the best/most practical location for stereo and speakers? Recomendations on brand or "styles" would also be welcome

Thanks,
DR

Well I'm not real sure on the dash if the 16 but under the dash so as not to cut it & so there out of the weather would be best!!! But you must get a extra bat for your system & or a plugin solar panel to recharge your batt banks

Rockford Fosgate  , Denon :D , Blaupunkt :D & as always Alpine seem real popular in the car club right now if i had the cash id go with one of those Web radios they do internet radio & regular radio functions to sweet :D  . Be sure to get a AMP (for sound quality over quanity) & Speakers with large magnets to ensue they don't blow when your doing 60mph with the tunes cranked all summer!!!

http://www.crutchfield.com/ is a great place to get started!!

On a Buget try your local Pawn shop Punk kids like to sell there stuff for party money & can be bought cheap from these guys!!!

Good Luck

I have been mulling that question over on my 72 Hornet. I just don't feel like cutting speakers into the nice glass side panels or adding a nice radio hole into the dash. Any ideas for a clean install? Thinking that it would have to be under the dash somewhere, going to need some cranking ability for the sand bars that we hang on....

My previous Classic was a 1996 16 Classic.
Sold it to a good friend, so I still have visitation rights.

I bought the boat used, but did spend some
time upgrading the stereo. The head was mounted
under the dash in a hole cut into the starboard
gunnel. Speakers were also down there on each
side. Hole saw and a couple of hours, presto.

Pain in the butt to tune, but there really wasn't
any other place to put the stuff. Sounded great too, because the bow area kind of functions as a bass chamber.

Good luck, Todd

Look in Street Rodder magazine, there is a company that has a stereo for Rods that mounts in the trunk, or anywhere out of sight, and uses a remote comtrol....ok, i just grabbed an issue and found it, "Secret Audio" hideaway audio solution. 100 watt Am-Fm radio, w/ cd changer controller. mount anywhere out of sight, uses hand held wireless remote, www.custom-autosound.com, (http://www.custom-autosound.com,) or 1-800-88-tunes.

Just a thought

Something like this to house the speakers maybe bracketed to the underside of the deck (dash) to keep them off the floor & in one place.

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-vnipfdNdM6U/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=11&g=766&I= 044QL69W&o=m&a=0 (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-vnipfdNdM6U/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=11&g=766&I=044QL69W&o=m&a=0)

& something like this for all the same reasons on the head unit!!!

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-vnipfdNdM6U/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=11&g=752&I =120999000&o=m&a=0 (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-vnipfdNdM6U/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=11&g=752&I=120999000&o=m&a=0)

This way you don't cut the dash or kick panels (resale value) & its easy to Install & easy to take to the next boat you buy!!!

Just some ideas of what i would get!

In the Donzi, I like a boom-box. No holes to cut, no wiring to deal with, it doesn't run your battery down, you can take it to where ever you beach . . . and when it dies, you can throw the whole works in the trash. Hell, you can't hear a stereo when the engine is running anyway!

I been dreaming about mounting everything to the bottom of the bucket sets.
