I have a volvo penta 250 1968 outdrive.Any tech-tips for repairing a lower unit skeg?

Call your local prop shop,,,The last one I had done was about a 100.00 to have a new skeg welded on. Buying the high frequency AC tig welder is a little costly for occasional at home use
Believe it or not any good body shop normally has a welder that can work and there is normally one guy that boats or used to boat that knows what they are doing. Check one of them out. I know someone who had one done here and it was perfect.

What I learned last year was the heat can actually melt the seals, my guy didn't but explained it to me etc.
He kept packing my hub with ice.

Too much heat can also warp the housing. frown
