Posting the following for my brother, he can't log in for some reason:

I'm wondering what the proper spark plug is for my '69 H-M 235hp 302. I've
been using the same type since acquiring the boat years ago, but our last
outing has made me suspicious. Thanks!

If that F-word engine uses the large 18mm thread spark plugs, I think that you will find a Champion F-10C (or another brand's equivalent) will be the right plug since it's heat range is very much on the cold side.

Have you no respect for the old, original Holman Moody Fords, Forrest? http://206.150.187.82/ubb/eek.gif

Thanks for the info! Let ya know....

Howard, I'll let you in on a little secret. My 302 Ford in my '72 16 ran for countless hours for 25 years in salt water with only one minor rebuild (rings, bearings, and valve job only) back around 1981. My Ford powered Donzi usually got beat by the Chevrolet powered 18's and sometimes (can you believe it?), they even made fun of me, and my Donzi, and my little Ford motor http://206.150.187.82/ubb/frown.gif. But on more than one occasion, when everyone else's hot rodded Chevy powered boat was broken, I was either giving rides to bow-tie heads who were nice to me or thumbing by nose to the not-so-nice ones! Kind of reminds me of The Little Engine That Could. Well anyway, the little engine finally died when rust ate its way through into a cylinder in 1997. Everything is brand new now in that 'ol Donzi and this time I went with a closed fresh-water cooling system. Maybe, this time around I'll get my money's worth out of this "F-word" engine by possibly being able to stretch a little more than just 25 years out of it. Check with me in 30 years when I'm 75 years old. I may need some help putting in the next F-word engine then!

Forrest,
This die hard Chevrolet fan can attest to the longevity, reliability, and awesome performance the old F-word engines deliver. My old bone stock '90 5.0L H.O. in the triple black Mustang GT convert with a 140,000 mi. which will still schorch the tires like the day it was new http://206.150.187.82/ubb/eek.gif . Then there's the 351 in my 1986 Supra....if your not paying attention, she'll rip your shoulders outta the sockets when waterskiing. (not really, but.... http://206.150.187.82/ubb/rolleyes.gif Anyhow, I've sure been happy w/my Fords, however my heart belongs to the most radical high strung Chevrolets!!
