I have been considering a larger Donzi since my Lake George trip. I don't know if I will take the plunge yet but, have begun "casually" looking at 22s. Just happened upon an aquaintance who is parting with his '88 or '89 Minx. Clean original boat with a 350Mag/Alpha. Was wondering to what degree this boat would offer an improvement over the 18 in rough water? How about performance with this setup? Looking for opinions here as this boat looks like a good deal.
Thanks,

PaulO: Sorry we did not get a chance to
talk, my boat was the black on white 18
with the wind shield berth just across
from yours behind the big bad yellow 22.
I got a nice shoot of it . I looked at a Minx
with a smallblock Alpha package when
I purchased my 18. It was a fresh water
boat and clean. I love the lines of the
Minx and the higher free board it offers,
a great rough water boat. The one I
looked at had the sexy frameless smoked
Italian wind shield, cream deck with
navy blue sides. He was asking 17k
firm, although I heard the boat went for
less. He told me that the top end was
about 58mph with a cleaver wheel. I
think that a small block is a little lite
for a 20footer this boat would go a lot
better with about 100 more HP in it.

I've ridden in both 18's and 22's and noticed the following differences. The 22's offer a much "dryer" ride," while the 18's usually "feel" faster due to their light weight and "nimbleness." I also like the additional storage the larger boats offer. Personally, I'd like to have an over powered 22. (Although I'm in the midst of getting a radical 388 back into the GT 21)
